Vision
The sector of assessment and attestation of conformity, often identified through the acronym TIC (Testing, Inspection & Certification) is governed by laws, rules and regulations issued by national bodies, such as Accredia, UNI and Ministries, which increasingly adopt Regulations, Directives, Standards and Guidelines issued by international Bodies such as the European Commission, EA (European Accreditation), ISO (International Organization for Standardization), ILAC (International Organization for Accreditation), IAF (International Accreditation Forum).
The decisions made in said national and international contexts have a major impact on the actions of Bodies operating in the TIC sector, determining reference markets’ breadth and depth and establishing management and operational procedures aimed at ensuring their expertise, independence and impartiality.
It is quite clear that getting involved with said national and international Entities and Organisations, trying to affect in an ethical way guidelines and decisions, is vitally important for the Operators in the sector, both they are Testing Laboratories or Calibration Laboratories, Certification Bodies or Inspection Bodies, Notified Bodies or Qualified Entities.
However, each Operator of the TIC sector can hardly intervene directly and effectively with said national and international Entities and Organisations. It follows that Laboratories, Certification Bodies and Inspection Bodies benefit from joining recognised Associations, able to exercise an intermediary role with national and international Entities, bringing added value and, at the same time, defending ethical interests of Members to the benefit of all the system stakeholders, not least Italian and EU citizens.
